GAEL Systems has developed and is operating a traceability service for ESA Copernicus data.
This cloud-based service allows ESA to record the events related to the product lifecycle (processing steps, deletions, re-processing) of their satellite data and to notify the users about important changes.
A trace is made up of a computed hash and usual metadata such as the satellite name, the date, the processor name, etc. The hash is unique to the product. If one bit changes, the hash value changes drastically.
As of today, we have reached more than 250 millions of traces for 50 millions of products.
